Rig count up in Canada by one rig
In the United States, the Baker Hughes rig count shows the number of rigs is down from last week to 787, with oil rigs down 10 to 595, gas rigs up 3 to 192 and miscellaneous rigs down one to zero.
The biggest drop in the number of rigs exploring for oil and gas was seen in New Mexico where last week 46 rigs were operational and this week, that number is down to 41. Texas and Oklahoma both lost two rigs while Colorado and North Dakota were both down by one rig.
On the plus side, Louisiana added to its total of rigs by three, bringing the count up to 68 from last week’s total of 65 and Wyoming saw two more rigs working, increasing the number of rigs to 26.
California’s rig count is also up, with one new rig operational.
In Canada, the number of rigs increased by one to 181.
Last year, there were 1918 rigs operational in the US and 417 in Canada.
