Propanol used for manufacturing cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, printing inks, coatings, adhesives
International chemical manufacturer Oxea is on schedule to open a “world class” propanol plant at its facility in Bay City, Texas in 2017.
The company announced in a press release that it is carrying out detailed engineering of the plant, whose products will serve customers in North and Latin American.
“Oxea is a leading merchant supplier of Oxo products such as alcohols, aldehydes, and acids,” said Miguel Mantas, Oxea’s executive board member responsible for marketing and sales.
“We continue to significantly invest into our production platforms, especially for propanol, to support the growth of our customers and meet the rising demands of the markets.”
The company aims to utilise detailed engineering work being done for the Texas facility for the construction of its Asian Oxo chemicals platform, to be built in Duqm, Oman.
Propanol is used while manufacturing products such as cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, printing inks, coatings, and adhesives.
“The new facility for propanol in North America not only supports our strategy of growing the business and enhancing the efficiency of our operations,” said Martina Flöel, spokesperson responsible for production and technology.
“It also emphasises our confidence in the competitiveness of the US petrochemical industry and reinforces our commitment to the North and Latin American markets.”
Oxea is owned by Oman Oil Company and employs more than 1,400 people worldwide.
Recently, Oxea has partnered with Specialty Chemical Sales (SCS) for distribution of its next-generation coalescing agent, Oxfilm 351, in the US.
SCS will market Oxea across the US for its coatings products including the non-VOC (volatile organic compound) Oxfilm 351.
