Through a new partnership with Hiring Our Heroes, Phillips 66 joins more than 30 of America’s largest employers in its commitment to hiring veterans.

Veterans and transitioning service members often have difficulty communicating their skills and military background in terms that civilian employers can understand, making a move into the private sector a challenge.

“Supporting Hiring our Heroes is a natural fit for Phillips 66,” says Sonya Reed, senior vice president of Human Resources for Phillips 66. “Veterans share our company’s values of safety, honor and commitment. This partnership will help us create a pipeline of qualified employees as well as raise the visibility of Phillips 66 as an employer of choice for transitioning military service members.”

Hiring Our Heroes is a program of the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation, launched in March 2011 as a nationwide initiative to help veterans and military spouses find meaningful employment opportunities. The program works with the Chamber of Commerce’s extensive network of state and local chambers – as well as partners from the public, private, and non-profit sectors.

Phillips 66 says it has a strong record of hiring US veterans. The company is expanding its commitment to establishing best practices for veteran and spouse employment and providing mentors to veterans.

“Hiring Our Heroes is a national grassroots campaign sponsored by the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation that works to connect veterans, transitioning service members and military spouses with great companies,” says Eric Eversole, vice president, U.S. Chamber of Commerce and president, Hiring Our Heroes.

“The program helps translate service members’ skills so employers better understand their value.”
