If you have an emergency that requires the Texas Railroad Commission to respond, the regulator has a new toll free phone number for your rolodex: 844-773-0305.

David Porter, Commissioner, Texas Railroad Commission.

Commission staff is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week to respond to emergencies related to oil and gas exploration and production, intrastate pipelines and alternative fuels, including propane.

“The new toll-free emergency line at the Commission is intended to provide additional support and make contact with our staff more streamlined and efficient, both during an event, and as part of any subsequent investigation,” said Chairman David Porter in a release.

Commission employees are not emergency responders or law enforcement officials, but do work closely with emergency responders to provide support in the event of an emergency, the Commission said in a release.

“Working in partnership with local officials and other state agencies, our staff is ready at all times to assist with emergencies,” said Commissioner Ryan Sitton.

Christi Craddick, chairman of the Railroad Commission of Texas.

“Callers to the toll-free emergency number are connected to Commission staff or, in the case of calls made outside of business hours, the Commission’s 24-hour answering service.”

Adding the toll-free number to the Commission’s existing emergency number (512-463-6788) provides another method for easily notifying the Commission of an emergency situation related to the agency’s regulatory oversight.

“Public safety and the protection of our natural resources are our highest priority at the Commission,” said Commissioner Christi Craddick.

“While we never want to see an emergency situation arise, our staff is on call and ready to support emergency responders including providing information and overseeing any related cleanup efforts.”
