Texas production in Feb. 2016 came from 184,117 oil wells and 89,379 gas wells
AUSTIN –– Production for Feb. 2016 as reported by the Railroad Commission of Texas is 70,251,961 barrels of crude oil and 580,784,700 mcf of total gas from oil and gas wells.
These preliminary figures are based on production volumes reported by operators and will be updated as late and corrected production reports are received.
Production reported to the Commission for the same time period last year, Feb. 2015, was: 65,568,162 barrels of crude oil preliminarily, updated to a current figure of 83,398,237 barrels; and 563,837,998 Mcf of total gas preliminarily, updated to a current figure of 672,049,511 Mcf.
The Commission reports that in the last 12 months, total Texas reported production was 1.023 billion barrels of crude oil and 8.4 trillion cubic feet of total gas.
Crude oil production reported by the Commission is limited to oil produced from oil leases and does not include condensate, which is reported separately by the Commission.
Plunger lift use rises in Permian Basin as producers cut costs. Oil and gas companies increasing choosing plunger lift over rod pumps for full life of well.
Texas preliminary Feb. 2016 crude oil production averaged 2,422,481 barrels daily, compared to the 2,341,720 barrels daily average of Feb. 2015.
Preliminary Feb. 2016 total gas production averaged 20,027,059 Mcf a day, compared to the 20,137,071 Mcf daily average of Feb. 2015.
